Essential Summertime Tips using your Essential Oils!

SUNBURN AND SUMMER HEAT!

LAVENDER – the universal oil - the Swiss Army Knife of EO's.
Sunburns and any type of burn is calmed by this amazing oil.  It not only arrests the pain but also helps the body heal the burned area  and minimize scarring along with peeling due to its cellular renewal properties.  Lavender is also a potent anti-parasitic and anti bacterial so don’t be afraid to ingest it (better if done via a vegetable capsule found at health food stores).  If you suspect food poisoning try lavender via capsule or apply directly to the stomach followed by peppermint,

Sunburn:
·         In a glass spray bottle combine 25 drops of lavender to 50 drops FCO (fractionated coconut oil) or other carrier oil such as extra virgin olive oil or grapeseed oil

·         Mist on sunburned area as often as needed

·         If minor sunburn – combine 5 drops lavender oil to 10 drops carrier oil and gently apply oil to sunburned skin.  Repeat as often as necessary,
Foot blisters:
·         Too much walking around parks?  Try soothing lavender directly on the blister.  Will help kill the pain while it heals the wound.

PEPPERMINT – a sure way to beat the heat!
·         Apply 2 drops to the palm of your hand and rub on the back of your neck.  Works better than a cold towel and lasts for several hours.  Great for fevers or those hot hot Southern summer days!

·         Say goodbye to hot flashes ladies!  Tell your friends who suffer from these hormonal inferno’s about the cooling properties of peppermint and they’ll love you forever!!

·         Add a couple drops to your water for a cooling refreshing drink

·         Migraine headache or heat induced headache?  Try applying peppermint to your temples and the top of your forehead.  If your headache is located on the nape of your neck apply directly to the area.

·         Too much BBQ?  Too many Margaritas?  Apply peppermint directly on your tummy to calm upset, acid reflux, and aid digestion

·         Sore joints and muscles from playing outside?  Try rubbing peppermint directly onto your sore joints.  Peppermint has strong anti-inflammatory properties and is soothing  to arthritic joints

·         Sinus congestion, stuffy noise, humidity smothering you?  Drop 1 drop peppermint into the palm of your hand, rub palms together and inhale!  Careful not to get too close to your eye…the fumes will cause watering.
